The ZIPAM Story

The Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management (ZIPAM) is a management development centre that operates as a parastatal. It is located about 73 km to the west of Harare along Robert Mugabe Highway, cited on the western shores of Lake Manyame in Darwendale National Park.

1984

Establishment

Founded as a department in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare as a premier institution for training and research.

1991

Parastatal Transformation

ZIPAM became a parastatal accountable to the Ministry, enabling it to run as a viable business entity in line with public sector reforms.

ZIPAM Act

Legislative Mandate

The Parliament of Zimbabwe enacted the ZIPAM Act which explicitly defines the role of the Institute in administration and management development.
